Then the Alice Hawkins Heritage Project is ideal for you!

THE PROJECT:
Based on the story of Alice Hawkins, a leading Leicester suffragette, and supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund you will have the chance to listen to interviews with a unique and diverse range of women from all over the city and county. As a volunteer transcriber you will listen to the recordings of the interviews that have taken place and produce a summary of each one.

THE REQUIREMENTS:
Enthusiastic, motivated and creative individuals, with great listening skills of course!

THE AIM:
The Summary will be used as a reference and the completed interviews will be a lasting collection of stories archived in the City and County Record Office, displayed on the project website and promoted via local media and at special events.

THE RESULT:
The completed collection of stories will be permanently archived in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Record Offices and promoted via the Leicester Mercury and BBC Radio Leicester.

THE BENEFITS:
An opportunity to learn a variety of skills, dabble in a bit of community journalism, as well as, contribute to a valuable project that will work closely with local people and communities throughout the city and county gain some hands on experience and improve your CV.
