I am looking for an excellent VB6 and VB.NET professional to work in one of the largest retail chain groups in the UK. Excellent benefits and future development. Based in Leicester offering between £32-35k annual salary.

Summary of Role

This senior technical role will involve working closely with the Project Manager, Team Leader and other team members to provide the high-quality technical and analytical skills needed to develop and support my client's Product Merchandising & Planning Systems.



Responsibilities

This role will involve:

•Providing analytical and programming skills across a range of platforms.
•Translating business requirements into code and applications.
•Developing, testing and implementing code to team and IT Industry standards.
•Seeking to expand knowledge and documentation of business processes and systems.
•Helping the Team Leader and Project Manager to mentor other members of the Product Systems team.
•Communicating effectively at all levels; within the team, with Product users and other Systems departments.
•Providing out of hours support.



Criteria

Essential Criteria:

•A significant amount of commercial programming experience in Visual Basic.NET and Visual Basic 6.
•A significant amount of experience of developing with enterprise-scale databases such as Informix, DB2 or Oracle. (large-scale implementations using SQL Server would be considered).
•Proven commercial experience of developing on the Windows platform.
•Proven ability to plan / prioritise workloads and to measure and report on current progress.
•A keen willingness and proven ability to learn.
•Proven ability of working and delivering in a high-workload, team based environment.


Desirable Criteria:

•Commercial experience of maintain and developing on UNIX systems.
