Could you be our best kept secret?
Southwark Playhouse is looking for performers to be a part of its new and improved Secrets programme in October and November 2009. We are looking for cabaret acts, musicians, djs to create weekly post-show events and parties. This is a great opportunity for acts from further afield to showcase their talents on the capital's South Bank in front of a welcoming audience and get reviewed!
Applications will be taken to mid-November but initial decisions will be made this Sunday so we are keen to from you ASAP!
Secret Selections
•Will run on a Saturday night in the bar area as part of a post-show cabaret.
•Depending on the type of applications we receive, a number of these evenings may well become themed – so niche skills and acts are always welcome.
•Acts should be roughly 10-15 minutes long in order to enhance rather than compromise the light-hearted, party atmosphere we wish to create. DJ sets are likely to play out the night.
•Make the most of your slot and you may be awarded a longer slot at our Thursday night Juicy Secrets event.
Juicy Secrets – The best of the best from Secret Selections.
•Will run on post-show on a Thursday night in the bar area.
•The evening will consist of performances from our favourite, most successful and most distinctive acts.
Previous performances have included everything from magicians, stand-up comedy, storytelling, treasure hunts en masse and, of course, a healthy dose of live music, dance and theatre. But we are always open to new ideas and particularly keen to hear from acts that are interactive.
We are also always happy to talk to you about your act and how it might be tailored to suit us. It may well be that it suits one of our alternative Secrets slots better and we wouldn’t want to let you pass us by!
We cannot offer payment but believe this to be a great opportunity for performers to reach new audiences, be reviewed by established publications, forums or websites and build relationship with one of London’s most exciting theatres. Situated in old railways tunnels near London Bridge, the space has its own vibrant personality making it an exceptionally quirky, exciting venue to perform in.
