Leicester friends only

How come it is perfectly acceptable for kids to walk up to each other and ask 'would you like to be friends?' but if an adult does it to another you're looked at like you are some kind of crazed axe murderer. Why can't adults make friends easier? Rather than attempt to walk up to strangers I thought I'd use the net to try and meet some new friends.
So, Hi. I'm looking to meet new people with a good sense of humor who want to get together to have a laugh. My hobbies and interests are quite limited being mainly films, TV, music, reading, internet etc. General entertainment really, but I would like to try new things.
Ideally I would like to meet people who are as happy staying in, to watch DVDs, have a coffee and chat, play games etc as they are going out.
It would be nice to meet friendly, honest, trustworthy people who are willing to strike up a long term friendship.
Initially we can correspond over emails to see if we can get along but as long as you've got a GSOH and are genuine then there shouldn't be a problem.
I'm happy to talk to males, females, singles, attached but I would like them to be around my age.
I will reply to all non-timewasters.
S.
