It is currently estimated that it will take up to 400 years to rid Belarus of contamination.Chernobyl Children Life Line is a UK charity founded in 1991 to help the children of Belarus. There are now around 140 Links throughout the country who raise funds to bring groups of children to the UK for respite care (approximately 4000 children each year It costs around £350 to bring a child to the UK which covers their air fare and insurances. The Links are all run by volunteers all of their fund raising goes towards bringing groups of children to the UK for recuperative holidays. The North Leicestershire Link is a newly started link. Our aim is to bring over groups of between 10 and 20 children from Belarus to the North Leicestershire area every summer for a months holiday. The children are invited from villages and are mostly aged between 9 and 15. They come with a leader who is usually an English teacher from the childrens school. Under the rules of the charity children paid for by the charity must be first time travellers abroad. Would you like to help We are looking to host 10 children in the summer of 2009. Mid July to mid August A host family need to be able to commit to ideally 4 weeks but two will be considered if we have another 2 weeks host family hosting one or two children from Belarus. During the childrens respite stay we will arrange 2 or 3 activities a week for all the children and their host families for fun and in order that the children do not feel too isolated. All adults in hosting family will need to complete a Crb check. In addition the link is looking to raise the funds needed to pay for the childrens flights and any other expenses some host may be involved with this others may not. But without the funds we cannot bring the children over. I hate to have to write this advert but unfortunately my brother and I are now older and have left home for university so there is no one at home in the day to look after Molly and my mum doesnt get home from work until the evening so it just isnt fair on her. Shes getting older now and needs someone there throughout the day to let her out and take her for walks and show her attention. Shes very loving and will happily sit quietly in the sunshine. She used to have a lot of energy in her but now shes 15 she much prefers a quieter life. Weve had various cats over the years and Mollys been great with all of them shes great with children and being a relatively small dog she doesnt much get in the way. Wed love her to find a home maybe with a retired person couple so she will genuinely have someone with her in the day times were not interested in hearing from people who go out to work or spend the majority of the day out the house or who have particularly young children as although she is used to them shes at an age now where they tire her out and having them around all the time I think would be too much for her. There must be a garden for her to play in shes fully vaccinated and in good health but wed want someone who understands that she will at times need to visit the vet and who can afford to ensure she gets the care she needs.
